Diabetes Mellitus Type 1, often referred to as Type 1 Diabetes , is a chronic autoimmune condition where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. It typically manifests during childhood or adolescence but can occur at any age. Signs & Symptoms The onset of Type 1 Diabetes symptoms is usually abrupt and includes: Increased thirst (polydipsia) and frequent urination (polyuria). Unintended weight loss , despite normal or increased appetite. Fatigue or extreme tiredness. Blurred vision due to fluctuating blood sugar levels. Mood changes or irritability. In some cases, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), a potentially life-threatening complication, may occur with symptoms like nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and confusion.
